Story of Seondeok in King's Throne
"Seondeok, the first Queen of her people, has had to deal with the inherent challenges that come with taking her title. Having to show her worthiness in order to assume the throne, face up against the wrath of neighboring rulers, and withstand many uprisings against her. That is what it entails to be a Queen. Seondeok set the standard high; in addition to combating foreign and internal foes, she deployed her forces to aid the impoverished, widows, orphans, sick, and elderly; promoted a cultural and artistic renaissance. She was concerned about the welfare of her people and implemented successful measures to assist the poor. She also invested in education so that she could share the knowledge of the arts and sciences, including constructing an astronomical observatory to study the stars."
