Detailed analysis of how and when to enhance versus paragon your heroes King's Throne
Last updated 1 year ago
Enhancing heroes and upgrading paragons are two ways to upgrade hero power in King's Throne.
All heroes can be enhanced, usually with the same fragments, tokens or materials used to recruit the hero.
Not all heroes have paragons, but often, the materials used for upgrading paragons is the same as the material used to enhance.
These upgrade materials or tokens are preciously rare, so one has to be smart about how they upgrade their hero to maximize it's potential and power.
To evaluate whether we should enhance or paragon a hero, let's first dive into what each upgrade entails.
Although all heroes can be enhanced, the cost of enhancing heroes in King's Throne increases with each subsequent enhancement.
Higher star heroes attributes increase more than lower star heroes with each enhancement, but all attributes (military, fortune, provisions and inspiration) increase equally each time you enhance.
The first enhancement to bronze is special, because not only do your attributes increase by a flat number, but they also increase 15% as a whole.
This usually makes upgrading a hero to bronze a worthwhile investment for heroes you plan on using in the end game.
There are currently 9 levels for which each hero can be enhanced and each level usually costs a little more than the previous to upgrade:
After reaching diamond, you will also need Accolate Tokens to further enhance your hero. For example, for hero Yi Sun Sin, you would need the corresponding number of Yi Sun Sin Fragments for each level.
As you can see, successive enhancements get prohibitively more expensive, although attribute increases also go up as your enhancement levels rise.
While not all heroes have paragons in King's Throne, those that do are usually the ones worth spending resources either in the mid or late game on.
Paragons have different functions. Some paragons increase attributes by a certain percent, while others give you perks in tourney, such as the zodiac hero paragons.
Most paragons raise one or more of the heroes attributes by a percent.
This means that paragon upgrades are most effective when you already have invested in that hero via leveling, tomes and manuscripts.
Upgrading paragons are more straightforward than enhancements because each upgrade is a fixed cost of tokens or fragments.
Some paragons are only unlocked with hero skins.
In King's Throne, each hero's paragon is different, and each hero's fragments and tokens also have different rarities.
Thus, deciding whether to enhance a hero first, or paragon a hero depends very much on the hero.
However, there are some general rules of thumb:
1. For typed heroes, fully paragon your heavily invested heroes (in terms of level, tomes, manuscripts) for their type.
This means if you are leveling Cortes to 450 and have most of his inspiration skills maxed out from manuscripts, you should absolutely maximize his inspiration paragons.
2. The first enhance gives you more bang for your buck than subsequent ones
The bronze upgrade also increases all attributes by 15%.
3. Bronze enhancement should come before all-attribute paragons, unless your hero is an all around hero.
4. Bronze enhancement should come before any paragons, if you are planning to never invest heavily in that hero.
5. Never use Accolate Tokens on subpar heroes.
Accolate Tokens are very rare to come by and should be saved for your most powerful heroes.
6. Consider your play style while upgrading heroes.
Some players care more about kingdom power and others care more about tourney. Upgrade the hero according to what helps you reach your goals in Kings Throne.
